Skip it. Winchester is a by-the-numbers haunted house flick that squanders a genuinely fascinating true story—Sarah Winchester's real mansion is legitimately creepy—by leaning on jump scares and gothic clichés instead of exploring what actually made her tick. Helen Mirren deserves better material.

Plot

San Jose, California, 1906. Isolated in her labyrinthine mansion, eccentric firearm heiress Sarah Winchester believes that she is being haunted by the souls of those killed by the guns manufactured by her company.
