Skip it. Velvet Buzzsaw is a Dan Gilroy thriller that sounds juicy on paper—art world corruption meets supernatural revenge—but it's a tedious, self-important slog that mistakes pretension for substance. Even Jake Gyllenhaal's scenery-chewing can't save this one.

Plot

Big money artists and mega-collectors pay a high price when art collides with commerce. After a series of paintings by an unknown artist are discovered, a supernatural force enacts revenge on those who have allowed their greed to get in the way of art.
