Unwelcome

2023 · 1h 44m · Horror, Fantasy

If you're craving creature horror with a fresh twist on the vulnerable-protagonist angle, this Irish goblin film delivers exactly what it promises—dark fantasy thrills with genuine stakes. The pregnant-woman-under-threat setup could've gone cliché, but pairing it with actual monsters and moral ambiguity makes it worth your time tonight.

Plot

Londoners Maya and Jamie escape their urban nightmare to the tranquility of rural Ireland only to discover malevolent, murderous goblins lurking in the gnarled, ancient wood at the foot of their new garden. When heavily pregnant Maya’s relationship with a local family turns sour, who – or what – will come to her rescue and to what extremes will she go to protect her unborn child?

Director: Jon Wright

Cast: Hannah John-Kamen, Douglas Booth, Jamie Lee O'Donnell, Chris Walley, Kristian Nairn
