Skip it tonight unless you've got restless kids who need a festive distraction—this sounds like a generic fantasy retelling that trades the ballet's elegance for CGI spectacle and a paint-by-numbers plot. Even the 1920s Vienna setting can't rescue what feels like a straight-to-streaming adaptation designed to fade from memory by New Year's.

Plot

On Christmas Eve in 1920s Vienna, a young girl named Mary and her brother are visited by their eccentric uncle Albert, who gifts a magical wooden nutcracker that comes to life and takes her to a fantasy world to fight the evil Rat King.
