The Good Liar is a solid mid-tier thriller that doesn't quite reach the heights of great con-man cinema, but it's got enough charm and twist potential to justify a watch if you're in the mood for something moderately entertaining. The scores tell the real story here—nothing's jumping off the page, so unless you're a die-hard Ian McKellen fan or just desperate for a rainy night watch, you can probably find something better. Pass unless you've exhausted your queue.

Plot

Career con man Roy sets his sights on his latest mark: recently widowed Betty, worth millions. And he means to take it all. But as the two draw closer, what should have been another simple swindle takes on the ultimate stakes.
