While the premise of reproductive gatekeeping in a climate-ravaged future has potential, 'The Assessment' sounds like it's all concept and no punch—a seven-day bureaucratic standoff doesn't exactly scream thrilling cinema. Without critical validation and with a plot that reads more like a Black Mirror episode than a fully realized film, this is a hard pass for tonight.

Plot

In a climate change-ravaged world, a utopian society optimizes life, including parenthood assessments. A successful couple faces scrutiny by an evaluator over seven days to determine their fitness for childbearing.
