Swordfish is a slick, over-the-top heist thriller with John Travolta chewing scenery and Hugh Jackman playing against type as a desperate hacker—it's dumb fun with style, but it doesn't add up to much beyond flash and spectacle. Watch it if you want 99 minutes of pure popcorn entertainment without thinking too hard, but don't expect it to stick with you.

Plot

Rogue agent Gabriel Shear is determined to get his mitts on $9 billion stashed in a secret Drug Enforcement Administration account. He wants the cash to fight terrorism, but lacks the computer skills necessary to hack into the government mainframe. Enter Stanley Jobson, a n'er-do-well encryption expert who can log into anything.
