'Sudden Death' is a by-the-numbers action thriller that retreads familiar hostage/rescue ground with a gimmicky hockey arena setting that doesn't justify sitting through another predictable cat-and-mouse game. Unless you're desperate for forgettable background noise, your evening has better options.

Plot

When a man's daughter is suddenly taken during a championship hockey game – with the captors demanding a billion dollars by game's end – he frantically sets a plan in motion to rescue her and abort an impending explosion before the final buzzer.
