Skip it tonight unless you're a die-hard Star Wars completionist or want to experience the infamous Jar Jar Binks for yourself. The Phantom Menace is a bloated, poorly-paced slog that betrays everything that made the original trilogy work, and no amount of lightsaber choreography can save a movie this narratively confused.

Plot

Anakin Skywalker, a young slave strong with the Force, is discovered on Tatooine. Meanwhile, the evil Sith have returned, enacting their plot for revenge against the Jedi.
