IMDb 6.9

Skip it. The 6.9 score tells you all you need to know—this stage-to-screen adaptation loses the irreverent charm that made the original films work, landing somewhere between nostalgic cash-grab and genuinely awkward. Unless you're a die-hard Shrek completist, your night is better spent elsewhere.

Plot

Put out of his swamp solitude by a wicked tyrant's order, grumpy ogre Shrek goes on a journey – accompanied by a chatterbox donkey – to retrieve a beautiful princess from a tower, unaware that she has secrets all her own.
