Planet 51 is a forgettable mid-2000s kids' movie that mistakes a cute premise (1950s alien suburbia) for actual storytelling—it's harmless enough for background viewing with young children, but offers nothing memorable for anyone else, and there are far better animated adventures competing for your time tonight.

Plot

When Earth astronaut Capt. Chuck Baker arrives on Planet 51 -- a world reminiscent of American suburbia circa 1950 -- he tries to avoid capture, recover his spaceship and make it home safely, all with the help of an empathetic little green being.
