Napoleon
1927 · 5h 30m · Drama, History, War
Skip this one—it's a fascinating concept (that snowball fight metaphor is clever), but without scores to back it up and no cast or director name to anchor it, this plays like an ambitious indie passion project that likely bites off more than it can chew. A Napoleon biopic needs either scale, star power, or critical validation to justify your time.
Plot
A biopic of Napoleon Bonaparte, tracing the Corsican's career from his schooldays (where a snowball fight is staged like a military campaign) to his flight from Corsica, through the French Revolution (where a real storm is intercut with a political storm) and the Terror, culminating in his triumphant invasion of Italy in 1797.
Director: Abel Gance
Cast: Albert Dieudonné, Nicolas Roudenko, Edmond van Daële, Alexandre Koubitzky, Antonin Artaud
