Skip it. 'Mother's Day' is a by-the-numbers ensemble dramedy that relies on tired multi-generational tropes and manufactured sentimentality to tug at your heartstrings—and it doesn't even do that convincingly. Unless you're absolutely desperate for something safe and forgettable to play in the background, your time is better spent elsewhere.
