Skip it. Tim Burton's visual style can't save this clunky adaptation of a YA novel that confuses quirky character design with actual personality and stakes. You'll spend two hours watching a teenage boy lumber through a paint-by-numbers fantasy plot that mistakes strangeness for substance.
