Mãe
2019 · 1h 22m · Drama
Skip this one unless you're specifically hunting for experimental Portuguese cinema—the intergenerational family drama premise is solid, but without any critical validation or recognizable names behind it, there's too much risk you'll end up watching something pretentious and impenetrable when you could be watching something equally artful that actually connects.
Plot
Madalena is Sônia's mother, who is Julia's mother, who is Camila's mother. A family of women so different, yet trapped by events and tragedies so interconnected. Closely related, distant due to fatality. A story where reality invades fiction.
