Skip it tonight unless you're a die-hard Arthur devotee willing to gamble on a revisionist take. This 2004 Guy Ritchie experiment swings for historical authenticity over mythic grandeur, and while the Sarmatian angle is genuinely clever, the film's clunky execution and middling reputation make it a risky pick when better adventure options are out there.

Plot

The story of the Arthurian legend, based on the 'Sarmatian hypothesis' which contends that the legend has a historical nucleus in the Sarmatian heavy cavalry troops stationed in Britain, and that the Roman-British military commander, Lucius Artorius Castus is the historical person behind the legend.
