Skip it. Todd Phillips' sequel trades the raw intensity of the original for a bloated musical that loses sight of what made Joker compelling—and the addition of a romance subplot doesn't salvage a film that's more self-indulgent than provocative. Unless you're a die-hard Phoenix devotee, there are better ways to spend your evening.
