Skip it. This adaptation of Steinbeck's novel has all the hallmarks of prestige drama—labor struggle, tragic idealism, ensemble cast—but it landed with a thud and faded fast for good reason. Without critical validation or word-of-mouth buzz, you're better off rewatching the source material or finding a more compelling period piece.

Plot

In the California apple country, 900 migratory workers rise 'in dubious battle' against the landowners. The group takes on a life of its own—stronger than its individual members, and more frightening. Led by the doomed Jim Nolan, the strike is founded on his tragic idealism—'courage, never submit, or yield'.
