I Would Have Liked to Make a Different Film
2025 · 0h 24m · Documentary
This is a brave, formally inventive documentary that transforms personal trauma into something visually and emotionally profound—skip it only if you need comfort food tonight, but if you're ready for cinema that actually means something, this is essential watching.
Plot
In the voiceover, Suse Itzel talks about how her father sexually abused her in her childhood and youth. She talks about the consequences of these experiences. On the visual level, she explores the rooms from that past which no longer exist. Projections of photos show memories, but the family remains invisible.
