Skip it unless you've got restless kids who need 90 minutes of harmless distraction—this 2009 family comedy is perfectly pleasant but utterly forgettable, trading genuine charm for paint-by-numbers pet hijinks. It's the kind of movie that exists in that comfortable middle ground of being inoffensive and unmemorable, so unless you're specifically hunting for safe family fare, your time is better spent elsewhere.

Plot

Placed in a foster home that doesn't allow pets, 16-year-old Andi and her younger brother, Bruce, turn an abandoned hotel into a home for their dog. Soon other strays arrive, and the hotel becomes a haven for every orphaned canine in town. But the kids have to do some quick thinking to keep the cops off their tails.
