Skip it unless you're a die-hard HSM completist or babysitting tweens—this third installment leans heavily on nostalgia and theatrical melodrama about college separation that doesn't hit as hard as the original's charm. If you want a feel-good musical tonight, go back to the first film instead.

Plot

As seniors in high school, Troy and Gabriella struggle with the idea of being separated from one another as college approaches. Along with the rest of the Wildcats, they stage a spring musical to address their experiences, hopes and fears about their future.
