Godzilla, King of the Monsters!

1956 · 1h 21m · Science Fiction, Horror

This is the original 1954 Godzilla that launched a legendary franchise and redefined monster movies forever — a brilliantly crafted allegory about nuclear devastation wrapped in genuine creature-feature thrills. Watch it tonight if you want to experience where it all began, though fair warning: the American version with Raymond Burr is slower and more noir-ish than the Japanese original.

Plot

During an assignment, foreign correspondent Steve Martin spends a layover in Tokyo and is caught amid the rampage of an unstoppable prehistoric monster the Japanese call 'Godzilla'. The only hope for both Japan and the world lies on a secret weapon, which may prove more destructive than the monster itself.

Director: Terry O. Morse

Cast: Raymond Burr, Takashi Shimura, Momoko Kôchi, Akira Takarada, Akihiko Hirata
