Skip this unless you're a hardcore horror fan who craves psychological torture with no payoff. Michael Haneke's deliberately provocative home invasion film is more interested in making you uncomfortable than entertaining you, and it's relentlessly bleak without the character depth or narrative momentum to justify sitting through two hours of escalating brutality.

Plot

When Ann, husband George, and son Georgie arrive at their holiday home they are visited by a pair of polite and seemingly pleasant young men. Armed with deceptively sweet smiles and some golf clubs, they proceed to terrorize and torture the tight-knit clan, giving them until the next day to survive.
