Watch it if you're into conspiracy rabbit holes and genuine mystery—this doc genuinely doesn't know what happened to Max Spiers, which makes it unsettling in the best way. Director India Rakusen takes the absurdity seriously without endorsing it, creating something that's part detective story, part portrait of how the internet fills tragedy with wild theories. Skip if you need neat answers, because this one deliberately doesn't have them.

Plot

Black vomit? Aliens? When British conspiracy theorist Max Spiers died suddenly in Poland in July 2016 the case was immediately shrouded in mystery. Just before his death he asked his mum to investigate should anything happen to him. So little is known about how or why he died that the gaps have quickly been filled by fantastical theories. India Rakusen heads to Poland to try to find the answers his family are desperately waiting for.
