Skip it tonight unless you're a devoted fan of the source material—this adaptation flattens the novel's psychological depth into a standard sci-fi action thriller that doesn't justify its existence. The premise is solid and the cast (Harrison Ford, Viola Davis) is respectable, but the execution feels hollow and overwrought for what should be a cerebral story about a child prodigy.

Plot
