Skip it—this 2018 supernatural boarding school thriller is a forgettable genre exercise that squanders an intriguing premise about dark academia and mysterious mentorship. Even with a solid cast including Uma Thurman and Isabelle Huppert, the film trudges through predictable scares and underdeveloped characters without delivering the atmospheric dread or clever twists that could justify a night on the couch.

Plot

Kit, a troubled girl, is sent to the exclusive Blackwood boarding school, where she discovers that only four other female students have been admitted to learn the four pillars of knowledge under the ominous wing of the mysterious headmistress Madame Duret.
