If you're in the mood for intimate, character-driven drama about family trauma and reconciliation, this Portuguese indie gem deserves your attention tonight. The premise is raw and psychologically rich—two sisters untangling decades of pain in a single day—and that's exactly the kind of quiet, meaningful cinema worth your evening.
Plot
Roberta and Ilana are sisters and reach out again to each other after their father, a violent alcoholic, dies. In a single day, they reminisce good and bad memories, old wounds that are still open, and find themselves having to negotiate and share blame, loyalties and their unavailability. How can you see into the future, if the waters of your past are still murky?
