Dark Matter
2023 · 1h 54m · Drama, Thriller
Skip it—this ambitious premise about a physicist searching for his kidnapped son while grappling with life's mysteries sounds intriguing on paper, but without any critical validation and little cultural buzz, it's a risky bet for tonight. The heavy-handed metaphor between dark matter and personal darkness could go either profoundly moving or pretentiously dull, and you're flying blind.
Plot
Anthon is renowned physicist researching Dark Matter - particles we know nothing about, but of which 95% of our universe consists of. Anthon's life is turned upside down when his eleven years old son Thomas is kidnapped by Elena, a mysterious woman. From that moment Anthon not only has to go look for his son, but also for himself. Dark Matter is a reflection on the dark mysteries of our universe and how we relate to the unknown.
