Cat People is a deliciously weird mid-60s curio with a genuinely unsettling premise, but the middling scores tell you it's more intriguing in concept than execution. Skip it unless you're specifically hunting for campy horror with sexual tension and practical cat effects—otherwise, your time's better spent elsewhere.

Plot

After years of separation, Irena Gallier and her minister brother, Paul, reunite in New Orleans. When zoologists capture a wild panther, Irena is drawn to the cat – and zoo curator Oliver to her. Soon, Paul will have to reveal the family secret: that when sexually aroused, they revert into predatory jungle cats.
