Watch it tonight if you've got kids or enjoy heartfelt underdog stories—Cars 3 ditches the franchise's usual lightweight fun for genuine emotional stakes about aging out of relevance, and it actually lands. It's formulaic Pixar, sure, but the execution is solid enough to entertain the whole family without feeling like a soulless cash grab.

Plot

Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician with her own plan to win, inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet, and a few unexpected turns.
