Skip it unless you've got restless kids who need a distraction—Cars 2 ditches the heart of the original for a convoluted spy-thriller plot that feels more exhausting than fun, even for a family film. The espionage subplot bogs down what should be a breezy racing adventure, and it's widely considered the weakest entry in the Pixar catalog.

Plot

Star race car Lightning McQueen and his pal Mater head overseas to compete in the World Grand Prix race. But the road to the championship becomes rocky as Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage.
