Skip it tonight—'Breathe' is a well-intentioned true story with capable performances, but it's heavy emotional drama that plays it safe and doesn't quite transcend its inspirational-biopic formula. Save this one for when you're specifically craving earnest, uplifting-in-spite-of-tragedy storytelling rather than reaching for something that'll grip you.
