Skip this one unless you're a William Faulkner completist or hardcore literary adaptation fan—the source material is notoriously dense and difficult, and this 2013 film adaptation struggles to translate that complexity into compelling cinema. Life's too short for a slow-burn Southern gothic funeral march that doesn't quite justify the punishment.

Plot

Strife and disaster befall a poor Mississippi family during a two-day trip by horse and wagon to bury their deceased matriarch.
