1968 · 0h 18m · Documentary

IMDb 6.7

If you're hungry for rare political cinema with real bite, this is a fascinating watch—a Cuban director smuggling anti-Castro critique into a propaganda film about coffee is exactly the kind of subversive filmmaking history that deserves an audience. Skip it only if you need hand-holding; otherwise, dive in.

Plot

'Coffea arábiga' was sponsored as a propaganda documentary to show how to sow coffee around Havana. In fact, Guillén Landrián made a film critical of Castro, exhibited but banned as soon as the coffee plan collapsed.
