Watch it tonight. American Animals is a stylishly inventive heist film that blurs documentary and drama in genuinely clever ways—director Bart Layton turns a real Kentucky library robbery into something thrilling and philosophically weird. It's the kind of smart, mid-budget movie that deserves an audience.
