Skip it. 'Alpha Dog' is a gritty crime drama based on a true story that aims for hard-hitting relevance but lands as a self-serious slog with an ensemble cast that can't elevate the thin material. Unless you're specifically hunting for '90s crime cinema nostalgia, there are better ways to spend your evening.
