Skip it unless you're a hardcore Alien franchise completist—Covenant has stunning visuals and Ridley Scott's direction, but it's a frustrating, muddled mess that abandons what made the originals great. You'll spend two hours watching the crew make terrible decisions while Michael Fassbender steals the show as an android, and it never quite justifies its own existence.

Plot

The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise but is actually a dark, dangerous world.
