Skip it. 'A Man' has all the ingredients for a decent mystery thriller—a lawyer, a dead husband, shadowy secrets—but the premise feels like warmed-over domestic noir without the cultural buzz or critical momentum to justify your evening. Without scores to anchor it and no standout reputation to lean on, this one's a pass.

Akira works as a lawyer. One day, he meets with his former client Rie, who asks Akira to perform a background check on her late husband Daisuke.

Director: Kei Ishikawa
